Few surfaces are naturally ideal for bonding, priming transforms a surface—chemically, physically, or both—to improve adhesion and provide reliable short- and long-term bonding performance

The simplest form of priming involves wiping a properly prepared surface with a surface conditioner, which reacts with the substrate to improve its wetting characteristics and create more reactive bonding sites

Porous or rough surfaces require a primer with greater body, this helps re-profile the surface, creating a more uniform and dense bond line for improved adhesion

Primer also helps prevent carriers or resins contained within wet adhesives from being absorbed into the substrate, this can otherwise result in premature drying or bond-line starvation, potentially reducing bond strength

Application Guidelines:

• Always allow the primer to dry thoroughly before applying Sikaflex®
• Protect primed surfaces from contamination by dust, vapours, moisture and other contaminants until the adhesive has been applied and the bond has formed
• Ensure surfaces are properly prepared before priming
• Carry out testing using the actual substrates and environmental conditions to confirm adhesion and material compatibility
